The proposals

Our vision

Longmoor Village will deliver up to 510 new homes, helping to meet Bristol’s urgent need for more housing. With a growing population, a long housing waiting list and not enough suitable homes being built, new developments like this are vital to ensure people can live and stay in the city.

We want Longmoor to be a place where people can put down roots. All homes will be built to modern energy efficiency standards, with features like EV charging, high-quality insulation and low-carbon heating.

Streets will be safe and welcoming, with green spaces, play areas and routes for walking and cycling, helping to create a strong sense of community and belonging.

Nature and environment

Our proposals are shaped around the site’s natural landscape and ecological features. A landscape-led approach will create new habitats while connecting people to surrounding green spaces.

We will:

  • Retain and enhance key trees and hedgerows
  • Provide new green corridors and wetland habitats around Longmoor Brook
  • Integrate sustainable drainage features into the landscape
  • Create high-quality public open space, including a village green and children’s play areas
  • Improve foot and cycle access to Ashton Vale and Ashton Court
  • Retain the existing public right of way across the site
  • Support biodiversity net gain with native planting and dark corridors for wildlife

These green links will help people travel more actively, connect with nature, and enjoy healthy lifestyles in a well-designed environment.

Longmoor is a former landfill site and currently has a low ecological value. The areas around the field which provide better habitat for wildlife are being maintained and enhanced, as new, richer areas of habitat will be planted. Overall, our development will improve the ecological value of the site.

We have allocated a substantial amount of money from the anticipated sale proceeds of the Longmoor site into enhanced public realm within the AGSQ and existing Ashton Gate Stadium footprint. This includes creating a new bio-diverse green corridor along Colliter’s Brook, substantially more trees at Longmoor, green recreational spaces and new flora. This will all be accessible to a vastly larger number of people than the current site at Longmoor.

Delivering for South Bristol

The site’s redevelopment is closely linked to the wider Sporting Quarter proposals at Ashton Gate and the development will help to unlock funding for the new Ashton Gate Sports and Convention Centre

All proceeds from the sale of Longmoor will help fund new sports and leisure facilities for the city, while supporting local priorities through new homes green space and infrastructure.

Helping deliver the Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter

  • Proceeds from the sale of the Longmoor site are being reinvested into the delivery of the Sporting Quarter at Ashton Gate.
  • The plans include a new 4,000-capacity Sports and Convention Centre, improved public realm, and a new home for the Bristol Flyers basketball team.
  • The Sporting Quarter is expected to support hundreds of jobs, attract visitors, and deliver a lasting boost to the local economy.

Access and transport

Longmoor Village is exceptionally well located for travel by foot, bike, and public transport. Our transport strategy prioritises active travel and ensures good access for all.

Key benefits:

  • Just 400m from M2 metrobus stops at Silbury Road and Long Ashton Park & Ride
  • Cycle access to Festival Way and onwards to Bristol city centre
  • Upgraded footpaths connecting Ashton Vale and surrounding communities
  • New pedestrian and cycle routes across the site and beyond, including to Winterstoke Road and North Street
  • A single vehicle access point from the B3128, designed to manage traffic safely
  • A layout that prioritises people over cars, with street trees and traffic calming throughout

We are working closely with transport officers at both Bristol City and North Somerset councils to ensure a safe, accessible and well-connected design.
